Help scientists compute models of the world by mining a new kind of responsible cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, require huge amounts of energy to operate. Based on the electricity consumption of Bitcoin alone it would be the largest and most powerful computer system ever built in the world. However, all that Bitcoin mining computation is lost. That is quite a large computer to waste. Unlike all other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Automacoin is the first coin whose purpose is to perform useful computation. It provides a sense and meaning to crypto-mining and, in a sense, is the most eco-friendly coin possible as every computation involved is intended to contribute to perform a specific calculation for a meaningful purpose. It aims at using crypto-mining as a force for science and humans to progress while generating value. It is also the first coin purely based on the most fundamental computational principles in a purely transparent fashion. For example, in the long-run, and in its original version, mining and exchanging Automacoin can contribute finding all computable answers to all computable questions and is thus, in a formal way, a permanent holder and estimator of infinite wisdom.
Among our aims is first to convince the academic world to widely support and adopt this cryptocurrency project in areas such as conference registration and journal fees. We are devising ways to provide ways to give Automacoin the means to be a stable currency with sound, robust and rewarding features. The first conference to embrace Automacoin will be AUTOMATA 2020 to be held in Stockholm in 2020. As an ultimate goal we want Automacoin to become an eco-friendly non-for-profit alternative to services such as Amazon's AWS or Microsoft's Azure.
